Award winning outdoor theatre company Illyria will bring their fabulous production of The Pirates of Penzance to Storrs Hall on 15th July 2018. Nestled within 17 acres of landscaped grounds and set on the picturesque shores of Lake Windermere, Storrs Hall is a picture-perfect backdrop for an afternoon of culture with friends and family.

Andrew Nicholson, General Manager, Storrs Hall commented:

“We are delighted to be welcoming Illyria to Storrs Hall in July. Our beautiful lakeshore setting and rolling lawns are perfect for staging an outdoor theatre production.”

Guests are invited to make themselves at home on the lawn by bringing their own seating and refreshments – why not pitch up a rug and picnic and really make the most of the warm summer evening?

With hilarious melodrama, sharp satire and glittering wit, The Pirates of Penzance is as fresh as if it had been written today. It is packed-full of memorable songs such as To be a Pirate King!, Modern Major General and A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One.

Frederick, apprenticed to the Pirates since a child, learns that he was born in a leap year on 29th February, and that he is contracted to the Pirate King until his 21st BIRTHDAY, not his 21st year. With only the inept Penzance constabulary to protect him, how will he resist being forced to endure a life of crime until he is 84 – and will his sweetheart, Mabel, wait for him that long?

Gates will open at 2.30pm, the performance will begin at 4pm. Performance approx. 2hr 10min including a 20-minute interval. Ticket Prices: Adult: £15.50 & Child: £12. Cancellation only in the event of hurricane when the event will be rescheduled. Warm clothing recommended.

Nestled within 17 acres of landscaped grounds, Storrs Hall provides an effortless blend of 18th century history with the comforts of modern luxury. The Grade II Georgian Mansion offers 30 unique recently refurbished en-suite bedrooms with luxurious fittings and contemporary bathrooms. There is also a luxury boathouse for those looking to discover a warm and cosy lakeside experience, featuring a private hot-tub, fire-pit and alfresco dining.
